Are you Coming Out? Tell us about it!
Are you a straight ally with a story about "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"? Were you in a position where you were forced to discharge an outstanding service member solely because of their sexuality or gender identity? Were you frustrated by how you saw LGBT troops being treated? Tell us your story. America needs to hear how straights are also badly affected by this obsolete law.

all information will be kept confidential unless you indicate that you would like to be listed on our website as a part of the LGBT Veterans Coming Out feature.

If you would like your story included, but wish to remain anonymous in name, we will list your service and state of residence. For the Coming Out Day names list, we will list your name, service branch and dates, current state of residence, and any awards you received. If you would like to include a photo with your story, please make sure it is .gif or .jpg format, at least 150x150 pixels, no larger than 1MB, and tasteful.

CURRENT service members who would like to have their stories about serving in silence listed on our site will be listed by their service and rank. Absolutely no current service member names or unit identification will appear in our Coming Out feature. For your own security, do not use a government computer to submit your stories.

Please limit Coming Out stories to 700 words or less. We reserve the right to edit stories for length or spelling. Most word processing software and email clients have built in spell-checkers.
